The AMSU has sent a memorandum to the Prime Minister urging him to improve the education system in Manipur.
It urged Atal Bihari Vajpayee to check fake appointments and negligence of authorities in the State Education Department.
Demanding lifting of the ban on appointment of teachers, the AMSU sought establishment of an autonomous body for the selection of teachers to check political and official interference in the appointments.
It also demanded the introduction of common syllabuses from class I to VIII through out the State.
Demanding immediate cancellation of the order of regularizing 107 part-time lecturers, the AMSU urged the Government to impose the UGC norms on recruiting college lecturers and the MPSC norms on recruiting higher secondary lecturers.
It demanded a stop to the policy of pan-time recruitment.
It requested the Prime Minister to revive the paralyzed Manipur Public Service Commission and to solve the problems in Council of Higher Secondary Education, Manipur.
It wanted the State Government to develop the Manipur University and provide adequate financial assistance to it.
Raising the demand of shifting the Assam Rifles firing range from the university campus, it sought demarcation of the university land.
The AMSU urged the Prime Minister to punish BSF personnel who raided a women's hostel in Churachandpur on November 7 night and remove "all black laws" from the State.
Regarding the ongoing JAC strike, it urged the Prime Minister to take steps to find an immediate and amicable solution to the cease-work strikes, particularly of the teachers.
